The Red Devils — Number 1 Fireroom

On the day of the USS TOWERS steam explosion in Number 1 Fireroom—the Red Devils—the off going watches were just hitting their racks when General Quarters sounded. Many thought it was a drill on the way to TEAM SPIRIT '83. The forward passageway was full of steam. Three men were injured. One did not come home.
