Gus and the Fifty Cal

Captain Carter wanted an extra 50 Cal for the Bridge in Subic Bay. He sent Senior Chief Gus Uhler to the Ammo Depot. On the way back with a machine gun on his shoulder, Gus decided to stop at the Chief's Club for a beer. At the hat check room he laid the fifty on the counter and asked the girl to check it in. That was Gus—living life to the fullest, deadly serious when it came to his guns.
